Introduction

The NorCal QRP Club is pleased to kit the Stinger Singer, a morse code frequency counter that has 2 versions and each version has 2 speeds to select from, Fast and Slow speed. The Slow version of the kit is 13 or 18 wpm, and the fast version is 18 and 27 wpm. The kit was designed by Dan Tayloe, N7VE, and was originally offered by the Arizona ScQRPions QRP Club. They retired it, and Dan has allowed the club to pick it up as there have been requests for its return. The kit comes complete with all parts, commerical quality PC Board, and is another "Altoids Tin" project. (You supply the Altoids Tin). You can order below via Paypal or you can send a check or money order in US Funds to the address below.

The NorCal "Stinger Singer frequency counter was designed to be a low cost, high accuracy, full function, piece of test equipment. The counter has five frequency measurement modes, is accurate to under 10 Hz at 4 MHz, has less than 100 mV of sensitivity (10 mV at 7 MHz) and although some units count as high as 190 MHz, the specified frequency measurement range is at least 0.5 to 75 MHz. In order to keep the cost to a minimum, the frequency is given in Morse code using an internal speaker.
